Accessibility Statement

The standard we are working toward

Our target for acrenm.com is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We use those success criteria as the benchmark when we design, build, and review pages on this site.

Where the site stands today

We claim partial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partial conformance means most of the site meets the standard, and parts of it do not yet.

Automated accessibility testing with axe-core reports no violations on the pages we have tested. That result is worth something, but it is not a clean bill of health: automated tooling catches only a portion of real accessibility problems, and the things it cannot check — whether a description actually describes the image, whether a page makes sense read aloud in order, whether a control is usable with a screen reader in practice — are often the ones that matter most to the person using the site.

Manual testing with screen readers and other assistive technology is not yet complete. Until it is, we do not describe this site as fully conformant, certified, or compliant, and we have not commissioned a third-party accessibility audit. If either of those changes, we will say so here.

What we have built in

The practices we hold ourselves to across the public site: a single descriptive heading per page with a sensible heading order; visible keyboard focus outlines on links and buttons; text and interface colors checked against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds rather than judged by eye; text alternatives for images that carry meaning; labelled form fields; and animation that stands down when your system is set to reduce motion.

Known gaps

The interactive 3D map on our listings page is drawn with WebGL and driven by mouse, trackpad, and touch gestures. It is not operable by keyboard alone and its contents are not exposed to screen readers. If you cannot use the map, contact us and we will give you the listing information directly.

Property flyers and other documents are PDFs, displayed in an embedded viewer and hosted on third-party storage. Those files are not reliably tagged for screen readers, and older documents may be scans. We will supply the same information in an accessible format on request.

Some parts of the site rely on third-party embeds and services, such as mapping and web fonts. We do not control their code and cannot guarantee that they meet Level AA.

The site does not yet offer a skip-to-content link, so reaching the main content of a page by keyboard means moving through the navigation first.

As noted above, manual testing with screen readers, voice control, and screen magnification is still pending, so this list is what we know about — not necessarily everything there is to know. Reports from people using the site are how the rest of it surfaces.

It helps if you can tell us the address of the page, what you were trying to do, and what browser or assistive technology you were using — but a plain description of the problem is enough. We aim to respond within five business days.

If we cannot fix the problem quickly, we will get you the information another way: a broker can read listing details to you over the phone, send them by email in plain text or another format you can use, or meet with you at our Albuquerque office.

Accessibility is ongoing work, not a box we check once. We review this statement as the site changes and as we close the gaps listed above, and the date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
